remove everything in front of the timing cover then remove the cover and have a look

What are you hoping to see when you check it?

As a rule, you should CHANGE your timing belt every 100,000kms.

You should CHANGE it when you buy a car with more than 100,000kms, and no written ( or otherwise) record of it having been done.

You should CHANGE your timing belt if you have cam or crank seal leaks, as oil will degrade your belt ( change the offending seals whilst in there ofcoarse)

And you should CHANGE your timing belt if it snaps.

If you have satisfied the above, then leave it alone.

Deego, not meaning to be rude but these type of questions you seem to be asking would be best reserved for the "N00b Talk". Noob refers to newby by the way. Noob talk is a more noob friendly section.

And no they do not have a light for timing belt service intervals.

You suggest doing the water pump at the same time as the belt seeing as its off anyway? Gotta get on to doing mine soon!

Its up to you. It doesn't sit behind the timing cover on a G motor like some others do, but you still need to remove a bit of stuff thats in the way. So yeah, I guess thats not a bad idea.

by doesn't sit behind the timing cover you mean the timing belt tensioner bolts to it right :thefinger:

My theory is if its an even number of km, IE 200000 400000 then do the pump
