Hey Guys I've got issues that you all probably have too with the rear arms in my coily. Its my competition truck so is not quite standard but for my class I need to retain my standard rear suspension, I've transferred the original mounts over from the diff onto a solid prado diff. they are exact to the T. problem is that with a bit of power on and a whole heap of grip the arms bend sideways or just snap in two. Do any of you know of aftermarket arms? or where I can find out the specs of the cast material of these arms so I can try cast something stronger. Cheers |

No sorry, I've currently got mild steel arms that we built to the same dimensions, shape, just slightly thicker (you couldn't tell) and not allowed in class |

If you can swap whole axle assembles (and clearly do one or two wither modifications  ) then surely you can use a different arm so long as it is configured the same way? Lots of cars use radius arms and all of them would be stronger than coil sierra arms. I prefer Range Rover. Steve. |

Rangie as Steve suggested or Patrol or 80 Series or Pajero or Bundera. I think Paj are the shortest. |

No way around it unfortunitly, the arms, mounts , shock lengths, springs all have to be standard. Doesn't help that these arms are like hens teeth over here |

A) Where are you? NZ? Coilers are pretty uncommon here too. B) There's no cast aftermarket arms as far as I know. I guess you would have been trying to pass off aftermarket arms as factory? Without knowing more about the class you are racing in I can't offer any real advice. When do they bend? Big side loads? under power? Can Jimny arms fit? They are a fair bit more common - 14 years of production vs 2. Can the arms be braced/laminated? Perhaps with the right welding procedure it could be achieved. Steve. |

What about a brace that bolts around the arms That way the arm isnt moded in any way |

R u running rubber bushes I found that the plastic ones would bend the arms before the bush started to twist |

A mate of mine has flogged trailing arm bushes in his gu patrol but says the little bit more give in them helps flex. |
