I have to replace a broken mount due to too much right foot and 5.14 gears. Are the mounts sold on Ebay any good or am I better off trying to get genuine Suzuki parts?

Those will be better than the broken ones, but your gears will still bust them.

Have a look in the business section at BYE products. Unbreakable mounts.

You may need to brace your steel mounting arms though.

I recommend caution with the "unbreakable" style of mounts these days. For me it's been a downward spiral of broken parts as I shift the weak point further down the drive train.

Started with broken transfer mounts, so went with unbreakable ones.
Started bending transfer arms, so made unbendable ones.
Ripped mounts off the chassis, so went to a solid mount system with through bolts on polyurethane mounts.
Started breaking gearbox and engine mounts so added unbreakable box mount and VL engine mounts.
Now I regularly sheer driveshaft bolts. 4 sets in 3 drives. I imagine once they're upgraded, uni joints will be next to die.

Sometimes a known "fuse" that is easy to replace like a transfer mount can be useful, provided breakage isn't a regular thing.

Without sounding nasty, gee you must be hard on your zook. My comp zook (Casper) was the first to have the unbreakable mounts fitted from Greg and they have been in for years now. I give my zook hell on the track and nothing has bent or broken. I have 5:14:1 t/case.

Got myself 3 of these and they are rubbish. Clag glue could do a better job bonding between the rubber and mounting plate.

LTM21 broke 2 within 200 metres and that was on a fire trail. Stock 1.3, 6.5s, 235 tyres, and he has a gentle foot. (Most of the time. )

I have gone through 3 myself but have bigger tyres and a 1.6. I now use a modified VL engine mount.

Dmac, he is talking about T/case mounts here not engine mounts. :-)

My unbreakable mounts are still flexible and allow the case to torque but limit the movement. Could you still bend stuff -yes. Our comp car, gets driven as hard as any other, to and often beyond its limits yet the mounts have held up.

We run:
33 tyres
6.5 gears
3.9 diffs
Unbreakable mounts
Custom transfers arms
Roctoy ring

The only damage to the mounts has been caused by hitting rock

I gather just-cruisin is BYE products. Can you give me a price for a set please. I will just have to learn to be a little bit kinder to the poor Zook

Yes Just_cruizin is Bye products.
Not trying to give Greg a big head but these are good. Can highly recommend them.
Give him a PM mate just so he does not miss your post.
And your pricing will be here

Those ebay mounts you linked are no good, Buy genuine Suzuki ones way more flex-able.

what about kyzermattingley's seatbelt trick but over a stock mount? =)

Also found that one of my heavier duty transfer case mounts had torn, so I used an old trick I'd been taught which involved wrapping them in a seat belt, just melt a whole with a soldering iron where the studs will poke through, has to be really tightly done, works a treat on track car engine mounts. These mounts also spaced the transfer up about 15mm.

btw - maruti mounts suck - you're better to get ones out of a used zuk from a wrecker.

mine runs solid alloy mounts bolted right though and Ive never bent or broken anything and that on 34's and 6.5's , ask any of the vic guys I drive with and they will tell you I dont baby my car.

Post subject:  Re: Sierra transfer case rubber mounts.

dont notice any adverse vibes, you can really hear the gears going round throught the vehicle however

I used 2" bodylift mounts which are close enough to solid mounts, have lasted for a few years now no dramas, swapped to rubber ones for the last trip and destroyed them in 1/2 an hour, back to solid mounts again now.

I run polaris engine mounts for transfer case mounts. They stretch as much, maybe even more than stock mounts but apparently have a higher tearing point. Solid mounts seem to work for a lot of people but personally I much prefer having rubber mounts to absorb some shock loads.
