Has anyone tried to strengthen the doors on a Zook Sierra ? These flimsy panels would be hopeless even in a minor shunt,say a carpark .Prehaps an internal bar ?

The later model coily Sierras run side intrusion bars, not sure if they interchange between earlier years?

Hopeless at what?
In a carpark shunt a reinforced door will be just as ugly as a standard door.
In a sideroll down a cliff a reinforced door will stand a better chance.

So what do you want to achieve?

Yes the doors are interchangeable, but apparently the "intrusion bar" is a bit of a joke - this came from someone who was also worried about crash protection with their kids in the car and got hold of some coil doors.

warrior, there's really no crash protection provided by the car at all, in any direction. I'm sure a bar could be added inside the door, although it would be quite difficult to do this - my guess is that a couple of holes would have to be cut in each end of the door and a bar slid in, however, the whole structure of the car is very weak to side impact. Perhaps a set of sliders is a better idea?

yeah - lift the car up, run big rubber and offset rims... that way any shunting that occurs theyre more likely to hit your tyres first =) had it happen to me 3 or 4 times now where i've come back to my car to find another car's paint on the tyres =)

The sierra for safety would be 1/2 a star= It has seatbelts.

They are not the worst car on the road, But there is not much you can do to make them safer for carparks other than barwork.

My Swb has been reversed into. All they hit was my 33's. Win.

For many years i was waiting for people to merge into me in lanes/freeways etc They would get nice swirls up their doors. :lol:

As per my view you don't need to use sliders because only the doors can protect you. I personally have good experience and i never face any problem against the doors. I want to know about coil doors because i never use this doors, so can give me more information about it.
