Hi guys, yes I know must be getting tedious now reading Jimny 31,s questions etc but I would like to know what rim offset to get as I am buying a set of bighorns and sunraysia rim package new for $1270 for 4 which I think is fairly reasonable? Have done the wheel arch chop mod and awaiting Jimnybits to get some stock in, will be 3" lift on fully adjustables and 2" body lift so hopefully won't have to many clearance issues? Input much appreciated and flaming me for big lift... Oh well I just want it! If it do t work I will ditch it! Stock suspension is shithouse to say the least on my Jim, my go kart ( nil suspension) is a softer more forgiving ride!

15 x7 -13 rims I reckon and you won't need a body lift

X2 no need for BL unless you want to run 33s + . I would go for as much off-set as you can get, but only in a 7" rim not 8".

Ok thanks guys and no I don't have gearing sorted as yet, I have an overheating issue at the moment which will be looked at sometime this week which will then lead me down the path of either replace box and transfer gears and a clutch whilst I am at it, or do same plus 1.6efi, oh did I forget to mention power steer setup as this thing is a pig to turn already and I figure will only get worse with 31,s. major work to go on the zoom but that's fine as its a toy really I have other transport.

Which gearbox is a straight swap for the jimnys to cope with 30-31" tyres?

31s make it easier to steer when u have no powersteering. Mine is much nicer to drive now tho obviously not as good as a jimny with power steer

Stated my guard chop, have 2 inch OME life with 50mm spacers front and 30mm rear, going 24% reduction and 31's, wish me luck.. lol wont be running the 31's with lockers, oh. whats a good tool to use to cut plastic guards neatly?

OH reason for 50mm is because i have 30mm atM and winch bar and its sagged a little, and theres nothing more i hate than a 4wd with the frond 10 inches lower than the back!

iv found with 31's the steering gets very light with PS at 100km/h but that could be cause of my huge lugs and not allot of rubber to ground contact of my tyres. (i have silverstone Mt117 Extreams) could also do with a non stuffed front steering damper as well.

Plastic guards can be cut with grinder or air hacksaw. Metal guards same method.

You shouldn't cut plastic with a angle grinder it could be dangerous if u do a enough of it ,A jigsaw cuts nice and doesn't melt the crap out of them a hacksaw is also very good just slower but more controllable than a jig saw and for metal flares a grinder with a thin cutting disc goes well and even a dremil or die grinder for fiddley bits a hacksaw will do the job eventualy.

I agree with that, to many toxic fumes come out of plastic when over melted not good for you at all. unless you have an actual cutting blade (steel disk with cutting teeth) not a friction cutting disk. then id stick with a jigsaw to cut plastic or hacksaw.

best thing to cut sheet metal with is a metal nibbler, they cut great and makes an half our job of cutting to a 5min one. as long as its reasonably flat.
they work great for cutting out the metal guards.

I have cut guard with grinders air chissel air hack saw air nibbler resipsaw and nothing come close to a plasma. Its like a hot knife through butter

Trimming knife to cut flares, cutting disk for steel guards, drill for spot welds and hammer for the seems on the fire wall and lip on the rear guards .

bit overkill tho considering your cutting something so thin. but yes plasma cutters are pretty awesome
