Hi guys,
Looking at becoming a Suzuki owner again.
I've come across a 1997 v6 estate, the owner has reported it loses oil on long drives, not sure if it's burning it or if it's leaking.
As i've not had anything to do with the v6 motors I'm looking for any advice for things to keep an eye out for.
Also I'd be interested to know what sort of fuel consumption people get too?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Shane

If it losing oil it will be very messy underneath.
If it isn't a mess it's probably burning the oil.

Better than a big end knock a lot of them seem to get.

onto the second V6 in my misses car and it's smoking again going through a fair bit of oil, becoming really disappointed with these things

I believe there is a PCV/crank case breather problem that causes them to smoke... JoeBlow has mentioned a quick fix for them

Thanks guys, I've spoken to the seller and they advise me that it's coolant that it's loosing not oil.
Not sure what this is likely to be, are these motors prone to head failure or could it be something as simple as a head gasket..?

could be something as simple as a leaking o ring in one of the coolant pipes, which can bit a bit of a nightmare to get to on the V6 or it could be something more catastrophic like head gasket or warped head.
