Hey all -

I was wondering if the secret screw type immobilisers are any good, or whether there are other types that are better?

I want to steer clear of a fully fledged alarm, but my new insurance requires I have an immobiliser fitted.

Any suggestions?

I even contemplated padlocking the stubby stick in neutral...

the ones where you have to touch the head and key to make it go? they suck if you have a plastic coated key or they find the screw

I like the ones with a transponder on the keyring, no buttons and only works if the keys are near by

micro switch cutting power to the fuel pump or ignition. What type of proof are they asking for. They do know it's a Sierra don't they, christ four blokes could lift it up an walk away with it. Either hide the switch on the passenger side somewhere or put a position switch behind the vent controls that it cuts out on full hot.

had a switch in my ex's laser for the coil.

Its in the passenger air vent Cos the vent was broken..Anyone?

It is just a policy if theirs - Every 4x4 must have an immobiliser, but the type is my decision. Hell for $450 for full comprehensive plus extras, I'll paint daisies on it if they want!

Just leave the transfer in neutral, most would be theives probably aren't smart enough or are too far gone on drugs to pick it.

I was thinking of making a device where I could lock it in neutral, like my mate has on his old t bucket...
