I must be getting old... my exhaust is too loud for my liking. Although it sounds pretty tuff - it's a very loud drone at idle, and too much of a cop magnet. I run extractors, steel cat, muffler and 2" pipe, not too sure what I need to modify to lower the noise levels. What the cheapest way to sort it out vs the best way to sort it out? |

As above or replace your existing muffler with a better/bigger/notsooldandshagged one. |

Cheapest way would be a 1.75 flange gasket if it has any joiners in it. Muffler is obviously the better way with less flow restriction |

X 2 Just replace with another milder, baffled, muffler... should be around $70 to $100 for a newie... or put a hot dog on the tail pipe, but that may cost more than you want to spend... bit of a shame to restrict it again, by making it quieter, but if you dont like the drone... Edit : maybe you could adjust the idle to make the drone less than it is... |

Throw in a resonator before the muff. That will cut down the drone/noise |

This bloke on ebay has Redback hotdogs for a decent price, im running them on both my zooks. I use a good quality triple pass with a single 9" hotdog in my tintop, much quieter than my softtop with a cheap single pass and twin 9" hotdogs. A good triple pass muffler may do the job. http://stores.ebay.com.au/Vic-Performan ... 2525519015 EDIT/ hotdogs may actually be 12"... |

You can get basic hotdogs a few sizes. Smallest my local has is 2"x 6". |
