I have just Installed some anti-static rings into my Vit (Thanks goes to Bruce for the rings.)

I have heard from several sources that OME's (Old Man Emu's) are the go for the front end to get my travel back. So I called ARB here on the Gold Coast today and asked them about the OME's, they rekon that the extended travel OME's they do for the Vit give 30mm extra travel and they are $215ea. This doesn't seem like alot of extra travel to me!

Is there another OME strut that gives more travel? Or do I have to goto the RANCHO 9000's which I have been told to get for the rear of the Vit as they are adjustable

30mm is how much longer the strut is, it amounts to about 45mm at the wheel, which is about all youd get out of lifted fronts in a sierra anyway.
You can get massive travel struts if you do your homework by using the right Koni insert but really any more than the OME you are starting to push the operating angle of the cv's meaning you have to look at dropped diff brackets and custom shafts for not a lot of benefit

you can flip the top strut mount for a little bit more and I beleive this is still possible with the OME strut to but once again the more you push one area the more you strain another

I have the ranchos on the rear, I go from empty to heavy with camping gear so I like being able to adjust them to suit but otherwise they are no different to any other shock, I believe there is a Cressida shock that works well

if i was doin a vitara again, i wouldnt bother with the ome struts unless ya can get them cheap 2nd hand like i did. i'd just do th strut flip and be done with it. the extra 10 or 20mm travel really makes bugger all difference. and i found with the strut flipped, and ome struts, it'd break cv's much easier.

whack some longer rancho's or cressida spec shocks in the back, put a locker in the back, and ya wont even notice the tiny loss of travel in the front

Ok thats great info guys. I'll get a set of OME's anyway.

One other question since Im fairly new to the lingo used here, what exactly is flipping the strut?

i take it you know what a strut is. where it mounts at the top, you can undo it and reverse it giving you extra down travel.

Yeah I know what a strut is... I didn't know that you can spin them around to get more travel though. Can you just remove the three mounting nuts jack up the vehicle and spin it around or do I have to remove the whole strut?
