I currently have my seats out while I try and rustproof the floorpan in my WT Sierra.

Now they're out, i'm thinking about getting them reupholstered. They're the most comfy Sierra seats i've ever sat my bum in, but they're ratty and without seat covers they look like shyte.

I have a few questions for those who may be in the know:
- does a reupholstering include seat foam replacement?
- what sort of material is best for a beach-mobile softtop?
- is it easy enough to modify the seats to suit a 100kg 6" bloke like myself?
- should I throw these seats away and go for Swift Gti seats (and if so, how easy are they to come by?)
- what sort of budget should I put aside for the job?

Basically, i'm sorting my car to be a beach goer, something I can hit with a hose at the end of the day. I don't want Recaros or racing seats as it's too much of a theft magnet.

Any advice or suggestions much appreciated :)

its probably cheaper to buy seats than to get the stock ones re-done... and i can't imagine a stock one last long once re-foamed, cos theres no support (steel) in there, so they'll sag again... i've also never heard of a sierra seat being comfy compared to a newer swift seat etc.

I had the same dilemma and rang around a variety of reupholsterers and was told that because of the lack of steel frame there wasn't a great deal that could be done in the way of adding extra padding. I was also looking at anywhere between $400-600 just to be restored. Ended up costing me $300 to buy, fit and comply mkII swift seats (the seats were only $100/pair). The only issue you would have with swift seats is that they are cloth, so would require a waterproof seat cover or something.

I have some camo seat covers i'll most likely whack over the top anyway. $300 isn't too bad a sting, I'll check that option out Brodie03 - thanks for the tip :)

Too easy. So you know the seats were only $100, it cost more for me to get them mod plated than anything else.

pretty sure my uncle's sierra runs swift seats from the new body shape (but not the buckets from the sport).

there is a guy around the corner from you in Alexander heights, who does all that kind of stuff. was super cheap when i got stuff done.

A guy in our club owns a motor trimming joint and has heated leather sierra seats with big side u get ur nuts on getting in them. Once in they are realy good
So it can be done but it would probly be more then the car is worth if u had to pay for it
