I'm sure this will draw plenty of opinions, but I would rather responses from actual experiences of using these products, rather than hear say, or "I reckon it'll wreck your seals (even though I've never tried the stuff)".

The product I'm wondering about is the seal expander type of oil additive such as Nulon (NOT the viscosity increaser type).http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Engine_Treatments/Engine_Stop_Leak/#.T8yXhI4zm20

Q1. Has anyone used an oil stop leak additive with success ? if so, what type of oil leak was it ?

Q2. Has anyone actually caused a totally new set of oil leaks to appear that can be directly attributed to using this type of seal expender oil stop leak additive ?

sometimes on rubber gaskets, never on anything seal related, if some goop could make a seal go soft again smart people would just engineer it into the material to begin with

long term its easier to just fix the cause of the leak and not have to worry about it anymore

Me too, only on a car I was selling. It slowed it up dramatically.

Thanks for your input.

If it doesn't work, it'll obviously need fixing properly.

If I can subdue the leak for a while I'll be happy, so for the few dollars, it looks like its worth a try.

Depending how bad the leak is, It's worth a try, But I havn't had much success with it. Although it is just a short term baind aid solution.

Yeah,it kinda works some of the time but its only short term fix,i ran a 24 hour Road House for 15 Years and we sold heaps of Wynns & Nulon to desperate people.Chemicals in the additive soften & swell rubber seals but the seal will need replacing eventually.
