hey guys, need a lil help with my carby on the sierra. So the problem, wont idle to well wen cold, gets better when hot, around 900-1000 mark wen warm. but it also stalls when backing down gear and coming to a stop? not to sure where to start as i havnt had a great deal to do with carby so any advice would be greatly appriciated. |

Mine had this problem not too long ago, ended up being a blocked idle. Best bet is just take it some where and get it overhauled. Mine only cost me $300 drive in and out next day service. Worth the small amount IMO. |

Mine did a similar thing aswell, rebuilding it fixed it. Carbs aren't to hard to clean and rebuild. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81RfJnO5C40 this is a pretty good video on the general bits and pieces. |

so just a blockage...might rip it apart on the weekend and see whats the go. thanks 4 ur advice guys, let ya know how it goes. |

I boiught a 50 dollar kit, took it apart and washed what I could. worked well for me but I still have pretty annoying problems but i think i got like an 80% reduction in carby lameness tech. |

yer think i might get a gasket kit tomorrow and start ripping it apart. let it soak overnight and put it back together thursday arvo. need it sorted by w/e so i can go out 4 a play... |

been hunting through the shed and found a corolla carby (off a 4k ke55).Been reading on here that its possble for them to bolt straight on.Any sugestions on weather this is a good/bad idea? Is it an easy conversion? All input is helpful good or bad. Got abit more time to fix it now as my camping trip on the weekend has been cancelled so far due to excessive rain, so ill be spending my long weekend fixing the zook rather then driving her =( |

I have a 4K carb on my 1.3. While they do indeed bolt straight on, not everything hooks straight up. You will need to grind a groove for the power valve vacume signal, modify the fuel line, make a bracket to fit the throttle cable and choke cable, fit a choke cable, adapt the air inlet hat, fit studs to the manifold and play a bit to get the throttle opening right. None of this is terriibly hard, but neither is rebuilding the stock carb. The 4k conversion will relieve you of the sometimes troublesome Sierra auto choke tho. |

sounds like alot of work just to keep the motor going...might stick with the rebuild on the stock carby. |
