Post subject:  Supercharge Batteries... Any good?

Well the GV has been in hibernation for the past couple of years thanks to a travelling job that provided a company car. A change of jobs means the old girl is coming out of hiatus and will be put back into use from next week after roadworthy etc. Over the past few years she has chewed up the batteries through lack of use and a dodgy alternator. The alternator is now fixed and I need a new battery to get her going. I have had Exide batteries for the poast few years and have been less than impressed with their performance and durability (I am willing to accept that a lot of this comes down to erratic use of the vehicle)

But a mate over the weekend has been singing the praises of supercharge batteries. I have seen them but never had any experience with them. Given that the supercharge battery for the GV is over $50.00 cheaper than the exide equivalant, I am interested. Anyone had experience with them? Are they a decent battery? :) :) :) :) :)

We use them on all of our trucks at work. They cop a hiding of stop/start all day. Never had a problem with them.

I used a Supercharge Allrounder as a primary battery. It lasted 3 yrs which is pretty good.

Sweet, thanks guys, decision is made, I will give them a go! I always suspected Exide was just overpriced crud anyway! LOL

Get yourself a Ctek or similar. It will pay for itself pretty quick if your killing batteries so often.

I had the same problem with my comp truck sitting around for so long between drives. Always killing batteries. The charger remains on them now between drives and i try to give all my other cars a good charge every few weeks.

Thanks mate. Shouldn't be a probloem from now on though. She will go from being used once every few weeks for a short drive to being driven around 100klms daily to and from work. So hopefully that should rule out any future dramas with batteries dying from lack of use.

Just have to worry about all the little things that will crack up on her now that she will be copping heavy use all of the sudden! LOL

I've got supercharge for both starting and aux. I got almost 5 years out of the old supercharge starting battery. Can't go wrong!

I had one in my old paddock basher for years, great battery. That thing was run dead flat more times than I can remember and always came back for more.

In the end I killed it by putting on the charger... And forgetting about it. A few weeks later there was this horrible sulfur smell.  After topping it back up with water, it never had enough guts to make the starter click, let alone start the car.
