Something electric would be my guess. My bet is the airflow metre.

I can't guess what's wrong, but I also went to Robe for the long weekend and did the fishing and beach driving thing.
No probs with my 96 vit, just a lot of extra rattles and groans.
See you there next time.
Hope your problem is sorted at minimal cost.

Kev.

awesome, not really. driving home from work (30 odd km) it cut out for a sec and the next morning i was sitting with it idling in the driveway warming it up and it died!.....so nothing like yours actually ahaha

Now the other week i was driving and it just died. hasnt started since but still cranks, hopefully mine is the fuel pump as i have a spare but ive been told it could be relays and stuff under the dash :S

Just a quick question on the fuel pump issue.
My previous Hilux was a carb version with a mechanical fuel pump. Obviously the Vit is fuel injected with an electric one.
Is there any way you can pour fuel into an injected version and turn it over to see if it fires like I did with the Hilux by pouring fuel straight into the carb. Just eliminates other possible issues.

Yep, pull off one of the vacuum hoses going into the intake manifold and use a syringe take some fuel and squirt it in. shouldnt matter to much which one as long as it not going into anything else. it should cough/splutter or maybe run for a sec depending on how much you squirt!

worked when the RAC guy did it on mine.
