all those lift kits have been extensively used on here, have a squizz around. i dont think theres any complaints about any of the setups you list. its horses for courses really, if you only want 40mm, get 40mm, all depends on what YOU drive. reduction gears, there WAS a stock reduction gear available from either JB or bigjim's but i think thats been shit-canned for now as it was too pricey for him to make. I think there is another style available from somewhere else but i cant think of it off the top of my head. it gave around 24% reduciton in high and low from memory. I went with the WT sierra case swap, was a bit of a PITA getting the bits, but most of the boys around here are pretty willing to help source stuff. I am yet to rebuild mine as its a bit whine-y being an old case, but HEAPS of reduction options from LROR. and it looks pretty beefy hanging underneath with the massive mounting brackets from ORA. anyway, probably best having a good look in the rigs section. because ALL the questions you are asking will be answered with a bit of time browsing around there. |

Cheers for the reply. i asked for advice cause i thought i would go for the td 60/80mm lift seems a good price also purchase brake lines and shock re locators. i was just bout ready to order till i started reading posts on this forum dating back a few months ago. now im just confused. how do u think the offset wheels will go is it the right thing to go wider aswell as higher. worked in my patrol. i just dont want to stress the driveline too much thats why i wont go any bigger tyre than the 215/75/15 do u know of any dramas with suspension lift and offset wheels greatly affecting reliability? will i nedd a prop shaft spacer? Im heading to cape york in september last thing i want is broken axles i have access to a decent workshop is the sierra tc something straight forward.or do i neeed to be some sort of mechanical engineer thanx again for even replying. ive ony had the car 2 week and i love it. dont know what to do with my patrol now sell it or not |

have a look at my build dude. I got 215's with the JB lift kit. im more than happy with the results. and im running -13 offset sunnys. Your thoughts on the driveline were the exact reason i didnt go to the popular 235s or higher. so many people here break driveline bits going up too big, and best of luck to them . but for me i think its a perfect compromise at 215. I did the cape last year in september and it loved it. didnt have any issues whatsoever (cept for that fuel pressure thing.... I was pretty close to getting a TD 80mm kit but then you have to look at castor correction bushes or the uber-expensive snake racing arms. that was pretty much the deciding factor for me to go with JB and im glad i did, saved HEAPS of dosh and got HEAPS more in the kit, rad arms for instance were like 200 vs 1100. only stability issue ive EVER had was the notorius 80kmh death wobble in the steering, but im attributing that to being a Jimny rather than the tyre/wheel combination. But that solution has been well documented elsewhere on here. Im yet to try my flex with sway bar removed, mainly cos im a lazy shit, but that changes handling a bit i hear too. RE: Tcase swap, monley did a kickass pictorial in the other thread, pretty easy to find. I didnt bother doing one cos his was more than enough to help anyone out. It took me about 3hrs to do, and i wasnt going hard at it. no speccy tools req'd except maybe a rattle gun. dont even need to jack the car up. Hardest part BY FAR was bending the fricken stupid shifter to suit... i had great fun with that.... If your stock t-case is alright, id just go with that for now. only reason i changed mine is because the chain started slipping like a champ when i dropped the clutch a bit at the lights. Give yours a bit of beans at the next traffic lights to test it. Youll know if its slipping. If you go with what i did, put some mud guards on before you go up here, my back quarter panels got pretty flogged with stones on the cape developmental road. |

Here is a link how to fit a sierra TC, you might find that it's getting harder to source the parts these days viewtopic.php?f=17&t=30820 I ran 40mm lift with 215 and it was perfect. Then I went a jb 75mm kit with 215 for a while. Was a tad to big but it was okay. Now I run 30's. some people who have the td kits do say they are abit rough or stiff. If your only sticking with 215 Tyres then I wouldNT go any more then a 40 or 50mm lift |

RE: Stiffness, if you go JB my reccomendation is ES1000. anything more is pretty stiff on a 1t car. I figured if i was spending that much cash on a lift id go as high as possible and deal with wheel size after (at that stage i hadnt decided on size) IMO the 215 look neat and not undersized with the 75mm. Everyones going to have a different opinion though as you obviously can tell. It all comes down to what sort of driving you are going to be taking on, and how often it will be doing it, 75mm will obviously have the best travel which is what this thread is about I guess. remember the front bar will contribute to your overall lift, you probably wont obtain 75mm, front OR rear. |

I run 60mm tough dog in the front and 40mm tough dog in the rear to make it sit level... As scales said, it rides a but rough, but chuck some weight in the rear an it's not too bad at all Trialjimny make reduction gears for the stock jimny case. I run the 20% in mine with 30x9.5, and there's a 24% for those who want to run 31's. You need the VVT gears if you want to go down that path but it's a fair bit more expensive (roughly $5-600) to do it this way compared to the wt case swap, but half the work Oh and welcome also |

There are planetary gears I believe that only affect low range? But theyre quite pricey As far as revving goes... Life begins at 4000rpm |
