Essentially I killed my engine last night trying to drive through a river I shouldnt have.
Lots of water in all the cylinders and the engine is now seized so I need to replace it.

How much effort is it to get the baleno motor into the Vitara and does it matter if it is the coil pack model or not?
Worst case I assume I could just swap the head over as I think the head is still fine.

I fitted an imported low k Baleno/Swift engine into my 1.6 LWB efi Vitara.
I had to change sump, oil pick up,
camshaft for the right angle dizzy drive,
and all the normal add on bits.
Cam changing is easy on the 1.6, no need for a head change.

I don't know enough of the coil pack type to comment.

Did you remove all the spark plugs and try and crank it? Seized sound pretty extreme unless you have broken something from the piston down. Engines can definitely be saved if you put lots of effort in EARLY! even if the thing is completely submerged. Or this might be the excuse to get the new engine you wanted :D ?
