G16b twincoil all the way.
And a crank angle sensor for the twin coil
I melted a wire to the sump and the car stopped.
My new spare box will have one of each sensor from past motors. The g16b are quite simple compared to some motors now!

Basically I have a few choices available to me in regards to engine configuration in my Lwb. G13ba - awesome carbie on it. Idles magically, plenty of up and go. Motor has great comp and looks almost new on the inside. G16b - baleno coil pack motor out of my tin top. Everything there for a complete change over. Unknown k's but appears to be ok. My dilemma is reliability while out in the middle of no where. My spares include a working carbie, dizzy, plugs and lead, spark plugs, motor oil and the usual motor spare stuff. I plan on doing 1500km + round trips soon to some pretty remote places. (please note I have a stack load of usual spares for other components. Has about a 32 inch tire with 5.14s and extractors plus free flow exhaust, for both motors). It will be towing a 4.1 meter tinny that ya can lift by ya self minus the 25hp on it. I'm trying to figure out the combo that would e the best for me. Just after people's ideas and experiences. Don't need any my old man and his land barge stories. Just pure facts and opinions with experience behind it. |

I don't think there is any significant difference. For the G16B - carry a coil pack, a spare fuel pump, and a MAP. Car will run with everything else misbehaving. In fact, a G16B (Baleno) will run even with the MAP disconnected, but it will run like poo. If you travel alone I'd consider carrying an alternator, regardless of whether you're carby or EFI. EFI is reliable and stable. Use the diagnostic function with the check engine light and the car will tell you what's wrong with it, and that's more can be said for a carby, but as I have said, there's very few sensors required for an eFI motor to run, even if it's just badly.
