I installed an EFS 2 inch lift a few weeks ago now with commo/hiace shocks. I love it so far, plenty of ground clearance, nice nd flexy rides nice and smooth (shades better then the old ones) There is one problem. the tyres rubs on the spring at full lock. ie. right tyre rubs when turned right. its rubbing on the bolt that holds the leaf retainer thingy (the u shaped steel that wraps under entire pack) unsure of what its called.
can these be removed? to me it looks like i might get better drop with them removed but will it negatively affect anything? also would i just grind the rivet holding them on to remove them?
You can get away with removing the bolt but don't take the whole clamp thing off unless you have another one on the front of the spring. Those clamps stop your leaves splaying out sideways.
the reason theyre clamped together is so that on full droop both top leaves are providing tension, when you unclamp them only the top leaf is supporting the vehicle - so more chance of bending a leaf if you slam into something at droop. Its pretty unlikely to happen though.
my front end still has the clamps on, and i've bent my rear clamps open so that they can open up, but the leaves can't twist cos the clamp sides are still there to stop that.
