I am just wondering if anyone has put a 3rz in to a sierra before and if so how it went and if it is legal to do any info would be good.

Thanks

John

I'm sure its been done, but at 2.7L you may have trouble finding an engineer to sign off on it. Also they are a fair bit heavier than a G16B, so this should be considered too.

They make good power and torque ( 112Kw and 240Nm ), so on paper it would be a great motor.

To make the most of it, you would be wanting to run the hilux gearbox, transfer and diffs. But if you are going to that sort of effort, you'd be better off just buying a hilux.

Let me know how this goes as I feel my buggy will need more than a G16B can deliver and I already have hilux gearbox, transfer/transfer, diffs.

I have an angle grinder..
I'll chop the firewall if needed, won't be running a heater box anyway.... Moving the gearbox/transfer Xmember will be easy enough. Shafts will need work and I'd prob have to rear mount the radiator.

I'm sure there are W series to A series gearbox adapters kicking around.

Put a 4agze or 20 valve in. They have to be the best transplant into a sierra, on power to weight and ease of install anyway. plus they sound cool.

Some will disagree, but each to their own...They are not stupidly over powered and suit low geared built zooks pretty well. Mine cops a flogging.

I was thinking the 3rz with the rest of the hilux drive line with a 4link rear and 3 link front with coilovers and have it set up as a winch challenge car just for some thing different. I all ready have a LWB rolling shell with a 6 point cage sitting at home. I know it would be easier to just build a hilux but i want to have something different form other people.
