Check out the stub axle.........calling Boggomobile.........do you have one?

It was real dirty in there so I suspect mud & water is the culprit.

but seriosly I thought it was mud in the front brakes after the run last weekend. It was just a slight tinny noise and not all the time? Havent driven it around too much till today and thought "I'll check that when I get home".

Cheers atari I'll contact Wants33 if Boggomobile hasn't got one

I still honestly don't know how you guys don't notice/feel/hear your bearings before they fully collapse like that!

I've re-built a few diffs that had nuggets like this.

Its so easy to check for play in wheel bearings. Every time you change your oil, jack the car up, grab the tyre at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock, and wobble it. If there is movement, check your bearings.

The problem is, some dont last an oil change, especially in shitty muddy states.... :|

If your bearings aren't lasting 10,000kms you have some serious issues!

Post subject:  Re: Bearing went Bang

Got one today from Boggomobile so all good.

Something interesting I found today, pulled the other side apart this arv, not that anything seemed out of place here, and found that both seals, the one behind the bearing and the axle seal were both failing?? Will post some pics tomorrow.

Now remembering it was only a little over a month ago these were replaced new on both sides. I purchased the bearing/seal kit off ebay and yes it was one of the cheaper ones (can all ready hear the "told you so" )

are you following the manual where its says to do them up motheruckingcrazy tight, back them off then do them up to 'snug' ? since mine were done like that i've not had an issue at all... when they were just "done up" they only lasted around 5-7,000km.

Make sure the spindle surface, where the seal runs, is clean and smooth too. A rough, corroded surface will quickly chew out a seal

I do my as per gwagens suggestions first nut to 90flb then to 0flb the to 15flb second nut (outer) to 80flb.

I now check then after every mud trip. Spindles are good condition too. Sometimes they will last, sometimes they won't, depends on what terrain I have been driving.

The FSM says first nut up to 90flb spinning the hub, back to 0flb, then 15flb. Lock washer on. Lock nut up to 80flb
