Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to remove the bolts for the CMP sensor when they aren't playing nicely?

They are allen head bolts and the previous owner has way over-tighened and/or thread locked. Shit of a spot to try and undo them as well as there isn't a whole lot of clearance. To make matters worse it seems the heads on them are already semi fudged as no allen key I've got is a snug fit.

Suzuki in their wisdom have one of thebracket bolts going to the RH cylinder head and the other to the rear RH bank exhaust camshaft housing, so as far as I can see I'm up shit creek till I can get it undone (can't remove the headbolts until exhaust cam has been removed. And I can't remove the exhaust side cam because it is bolted to the bloody CMP bracket which is bolted to the cylinder head).

Anyone got any bright ideas/tips/advice?

they were a T-40 Torx head on mine?

i bought good quality long handle allen key type ones & it did the job, they're bloody tight from factory.

And its all gone to shit.

Decided to take the LH cylinder head off and attack the CMP sensor/RH bank later. Cracked 7 of the 8 bolts and thought I was on a winner, but no the last one started to round off.

Went to the shop to buy an impact socket so I could get the rattle gun onto it. Got home and go to open the garage door only to be greeted by a huge bang as one of the cables snapped. Great... so not only am I not getting anything in or out of the garage I now have to work in the dark as well. Just to top things I go to rattle gun the bolt out and the impact wrench I've got isn't strong enough to budge it.

So I have a CMP sensor that is still connected. A rounded/screwed cylinder head bolt. A nice shiny impact socket which did sweet FA. And a rooted garage door.... :P

Think I am overdue for a new impact wrench as the current SCA heavy duty one has failed me a couple of times now. Anyone got any thoughts on what is decent that is reasonable $$? Needs to do better than 567nm which the current one is supposedly rated at.

why not go invest in a good set of fucked bolt removers, there are a couple of types see here for a good explination on them http://blog.bt-andf.com/blog/toolman/toolman

if you dont want to buy either of them just weld a nut on top of the bolt a use it to remove it but i don't see it being strong enough to remove it.

as for torx head stuff torx are a star bit. so you will require torx driver bits you can get some from supercheap, that go on a 1/2" ratchet, some work alright with allen keys but you will probably just fuck it, but if you get the right torx bit it should still be enough there for the torx bit to work properly.

also go get a large breaker bar heaps better then an impact gun. you can put a hell of allot more torque from your arms with a breaker bar then any impact gun.

Yeah I've got torx bits already, CMP sensor is fairly hard up on the firewall hence I couldnt see the bolt heads (which is why I had assumed they were allen heads this morning). Shouldn't have any problems getting it undone once I try again with the proper bits.

Was using a breaker bar already for the cylinder head bolts but once they start to round I've found it usually just gets worse as you are pulling from one side, hence why I went to the impact wrench to try that instead. I had actually gone out earlier this arvo looking for those sockets you mention but nowhere within cooey of me stocks them which is why I came home with the impact socket instead to try. Will have to order some online.

Impact socket is a good fit and seems to be holding so I'm hopeful that will do the trick.

UPDATE: CMP sensor removed, amazing what the right tool can do :) Cracked 6 of the 8 bolts on the RH bank but the last two are being difficult. Picking up a 1250nm chicago pnuematic impact wrench in the morning, if that won't do it then I'll cut my losses and burn the POS :lol:
