Since I bent my drag rod the the lock to lock has been different. The rod has been replaced (welded with a new strong bit of tube) but it still wont do a full lock turning right. Have checked the movement of everything and it all looks good with no binding and play. Maybe a suss box? BTW It is a Vit p/s setup. Cheers |

Drag link or tie rod? Is it the same length as original? |

Is it the same length as the original? For a fix you can move the pitman arm on the power steering box spline, this will help if you can turn more to one side than you can the other. It takes a few loose fitting to get it nicely in the middle |

Pretty sure what brenno ment is that its a very big no no to weld any steering related components (in NSW anyway), and no matter the opinion of the welder/driver it isnt safe nor legal do drive it on public roads, for a trailer rig go your hardest but when it comes to a daily or a weekender stick with the laws, especially around steering related stuff. WA may have different rules and if so ignore my comment but if it is similar to nsw i would remove it. And also everyone now knows you have it. Doug. |

My guess is the new drag link is shorter (maybe NT width?) Maybe post a photo of the pitman arm /drag link with the wheels straight ahead. I don't know why anyone would weld up a drag link. If it's bent, they can be easily straightened and sleeved with pipe that's been split open and rewelded shut. That's what I did some time ago and it's been perfect. No welding to the actual factory part. Steve. |

Thanks for the positive help guys. I will double check the length otherwise I'll take the pitman arm off and do it that way. |

??? That won't fix the problem. if the pitman arm is cranked left with the wheels straight ahead (as it would be if the drag lin was too short) , you'll still have less lock one way than the other because the box will run out of travel when turning right. In any case, I'm pretty sure the pitman arms are indexed and can only go on in one position. Steve. |
