I did it, $300 for battery, $100 for stuff to make a box for it, $100 for controller, few hundred for cables :)

the batteries are dearer now though

its one of them piece of string things, what do you want it to do will dictate what you need and what it costs, step 1 is to figure what you want to run and how lond and how much space you wish to give to it

make sure you go with an engel... might cost a little extra but they are way more efficent but y not upgrade the alternator to a falcon one and put an ultima battery which has deep cycle and normal in one. It will probably cost the same as a dual battery set up but you have a better battery and something to charge it

ok the lights dont need a dual battery while the engine is running, just a big alternator, assuming you have 100w bulbs your sticking 60 amps jsut into lights on high beam

the fridge over night will be lucky to use 15 ah/hrs so a 40ah/hr battery would be fine, if you think you are going to charge the battery back up in 10 mins running your kidding yourself, you need near on 2 hours driving PER DAY for every 24hours of fridge use, this is more cause deep cycle batteries need a lot more charge time as they wont take a lot of current when charging

if you want to run the fridge longer (say 24hr period) with minimum charge time consider a 60ah/hr AGM battery
