hey all just wondering what the diff ratio in a sierra is?
i think the vitara is 5.12

3.7:1 & 3.9:1 are the common ratio's

and the vitara is 5.12?
so can i have the vitara diff centre in a sierra diff? if aanyone knows

4.6 or 5.12 are most common.

All vitara (89-98) front diffs are compatible with sierra.

The front is the same on all models except goofy headlight XL7 and current models.

GV has a stupid air operated front diff. You might be able to swap the GV ratios into a sierra diff. If so then you could have 4.3, 4.8 and 5.12 ratios.

Oh and theX90 has 4.8 diffs

thanks mate. so if i have a 4.8 ratio at the front and a 5.12 at the rear that will wreck the transfer box?

LOL, so i can put the vitara front centre in the front sierra housing? are they the same amount of bolts? (sorry just making sure so i dont buy a diff for no reason)

you're better off getting the vitara R&P built into the sierra 3rd member as the vitara one is alloy & known to be made of porcelain reinforced glass.

cheers atari,yeah the diff centre is alloy as well forgot, would it be eaiser getting the whole front sierra diff with the 4.8 ratio and then changing the rear centre to a sierra or is the 5.12 ratio better?

the higher the number the greater the reduction.... you work it out.

vitara rear diffs are larger than sierra... sierra F/R diffs = vitara front diff in size etc.

yes, it's a step backwards if you fit 4.8's.

EDIT: sierra's don't come with a 4.8:1 ratio so I've got not idea WTF you're on about :?
