im just wounding does any body ever have problems with the carby on a 1.3 it revs a bit high i had it tunned and sounds like the
choke is staying on

disconect the choke and see what happens

usual causes are

1: dirt/water/crud in any or all parts of fuel system
2: old fuel pumps crap thier diaphragms and bits get stuck in carby
3: most sierras are very old, and reco carby is needed.

With my old Sierra, I cleaned entire fuel system, including tank,
then fitted a high quality long life inline filter (efi commodore I think)
A new fuel pump, and extra fuel filter after pump, and did a minor carby reco kit.

Never had a carby problem again.
A bit of metho in fuel once a month helps break up water, so it goes through better

Chokes can play up if the water heating pipes block up,
or linkages wear or gum up.

+ 1 that fixed my zooks high idle and excessive fuel drinking, the carbs water heating pipes where blocked, this causes the choke to stay shut and a high idle and rich running, before you go trying to tune it, make sure these water pipes are not blocked.
