hi i have been having some problems with my webber on my vitaras engine. its allways running extreamly rich but im not to sure what the adjustments on the carby are ment to be i want to turn it all back to the standrad setting but i forgot what screw was how many turns out |

What weber you got. Rich can be tuning or jetting. Give me the model an ill give the tuning details. |

32/36 i only rebuilt it a few months ago cleaned it right out so it should only be adjustments |

The 32/36 only has two screws, one is what controls the throttle (butterfly) and must not be screwed in more than 1.5 turns, mine is about 1.25 turns. The other is on the side of the carb, on the 32mm side. This one is the air/fuel mix, screwed in too far, and it will start to starve, so the butterfly will open some and compensate with extra fuel (now its rich) I did my tune by taking it in till till the needle contacts the seat, (be gentle), then backing it out 2 turns, and restarting the engine. Screw it in, 1/4 turn by 1/4 turn, a half turn, this is your maximum "in" position, any more and you will have the engine starving, and the butterflies opening and so making a very rich idle. Back her out a bit, see if the engine revs rise, keep doing this till it stutters, do the math, turn the screw back in half way between the two. Now check the dizzy vacuum line, there should be no vacume, if there is, wind out a tad at a time.and recheck vacume. What is your timing. To do a good seat of the pants tune, go for new plugs, and once the engine is tuned, install them, and go for a run, and then check the plugs again, colour plays a lot in tuning. HTH |
