I ripped out the radiator in my Vit, and as some might know you have to remove the fan to do so which is a bit of a pain in itself, and it got me thinking to use an electric thermo fan mainly so there's less drag on the engine which may release one or two extra ponies.

What do you think?

If thats your only reason for wanting one, stick with the viscous fan. The difference in power will be negligable.

I used to run a thermo fan on the sierra and after the thing shat itself in the middle of no where while wheeling hard in low range i quickly replaced it with a stock fixed fan.
Less that can stuff up. I did eventually fit a clutch fan to it but even that can be easily bodged if it wears out.

Would stick to viscous for above reason much easier to fix, eletricity is not something that is a patch job it either works or it doesnt. But on the power side for things mate had stock 1.3 sierra with viscous fan that broke a blade and chouldnt get one to replace so brought a thermo, before thermo it would do 115 fitted it did 120(just) but it did get hotish. Fitting a small 6inch one infront of the rad couldnt hurt for those lowrange moments when the gauges starts to creep.
