hi all need a bit of info from the pros here my oil sump gasket has shat itself and its leaking way too much to keep on driving the car. my question is , is there enough room to replace the gasket just by undoing the sump or do i have to take out the engine? cheers |

i'm guessing the G16B is fitted to a Vitara... pretty sure you'll need to drop the front diff to get access to all the sump bolts, still easier than removing the engine. |

Looking under mine I don't think there would be enough room unless you drop the diff but I could well be wrong as usual |

Are you sure it is the sump gasket and not the front main seal? |

haha, i've got a few too... but i think they're wasps or hornets. just noticed that you've started the "wrong as usual" thing since the plywood thread. it's definately a diff out job, but as britvit said it's probably the front or rear main seals. |

Has it got a gasket? most of them just use sealant. |

Just wondering the same thing. I have a g16a fitted in a sierra with a 2" spring lift and am hoping it is possible to remove the sump and replace the gasket without all the other hassle of pulling the motor or dropping the diff. could someone clear this up for me. many thanks |
