Hi all, I've read on other threads about people putting 4age's in zooks and was wondering how hard, adapters etc to be used for box, I have a 94 LWB Vit and 16b has given up the ghost and was considering dropping in a 4age, anyone got any info, advice tips etc, anyone that could help any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

As far as I am aware, there is no adapter for the 4age to vitara. Sierra owners use the t50? Toyota gearbox because the Sierra transfer case is divorce mounted, so there is no need for a gearbox or transfer adapter. That's not the case with a vitara. There is no adapter for the t50 box to a vitara transfer case.

I think it is possible to achieve with the right combination of adapters and parts from a hilux and aftermarket parts, but it is going to be expensive and time consuming.

Power and torque delivery are too high up in the rev range in the 4AGE compared to the G16B. For most off road situations you'd want it as low as you can.

There is an adapter to mount a "A series" motor to a "W series" box, it is around $500 from the US and $700 in AUS and then you could use a hilux transfer.
I don't really see the point in doing the swap for a vitara unless you went for a 4agze or a bigger motor altogether.

buzbox with gears making your vehiclework higher in the rev range they may be good especially with 30 more kw.

Ridge I guess with the availabilty of G16B engines and the fact that they are a very easy upgrade the only advantage of the toyota is realiability/longevity, I say that sitting down for a coffee having spent the morning removing yet another cracked G16B from a car.

People say they have seen them in Vitara's but I havn't, too much drama in my opinion.

I remember a bright green shorty that had one. Was up around the sunny coast somewhere. From memory, they were running the vit 5sp behind a GZE, and it kept popping gearboxes. Could be the huge torque increase, or just driving like a muppet.

Think that may have been the same one for sale a couple of years ago. I took it for a spin and it was quite disappointing IMO but it was a very rough install!

Yeah I think thats the one. I wasn't impressed by the install either.

Its hard to pick a good upgrade for the G16B vitara. The J20 is ok, but why not just sell the G16B vit and buy a factory J20 vit?

The 4A motors are great in sierras, but I'm not convinced they are worth the effort in a vitara.

Yeah I certainly wouldn't be pulling out a G16B to fit one, I am thinking of putting my 4AGZE in my LJ, I was going to put the G16B in that I bought off Ruebs but when I pulled it down found it too was cracked.

Vit box is pretty strong, he must have been rough on it.
