| Post subject: | 2000 GV H25A hesitation/bogging on cold start |
Howdy crew, On a cold startup my GV can sometimes be quite hard to start - up to 5 secs turning over. Once going it will drive fine for around 1-2mins then will bog down like crazy for the next 3-4 mins. It does this EVERY time. It feels like it is stuck on 1/8 throttle no matter how much you accelerate. Once it clears up the car drives relatively well, but the power delivery is definately not smooth. Feels like a bad flat spot between 2000-3500 rpm. Probably around 20% of the times it will bring up the engine light for a few minutes pretty much right as it has stopped bogging down. I have taken the car to Automasters to check the engine code checked and they said they couldn't retrieve the code from the computer and it did not do it while it was there over night... This problem has been hanging around for a while now (6 months-ish) and I have tried a several things to fix it with no success. - I noticed that a few of the spark plug tubes were filling with oil, so I pulled the engine covers off and resealed. - Changed spark plugs. - Changed lead/coil assembly's. - Changed fuel filter. - Cleaned AFM. I'm pulling my hair out. Thinking next thing to try is changing the TPS... Thoughts?? Thanks for any help guys!! Damo |

I might have to try and stick a gauge on to check... Thinking of running a bottle of injector fluid through too. |

Just to clarify, the engine light doesn't have to be on whilst driving for you to check the code? You can just check it with the car off? |

engine light doesn't have to be lit to get the code, as long as you haven't disconnected the battery the ECU will store the codes from the last time it was cleared. car stationary, ignition off, bridge the terminals on the diagnostic plug, ignition to "on" but not running & it should start spitting out codes. |

As far as I know, if the Check Engine Light isn't set (on with the engine running), using a jumper won't show any codes - the ECU does store old codes, but a code reader is required to see them. |

Yes it does actually! Just checked the error codes and it came back with "13". DETECTING ITEM: H02S-1 no activity detected DETECTING CONDITION: Output voltage of H02S-1 fails to go above specification (or H02S-1 circuit shorted to ground) Does this mean I need to replace the 02 Sensor/s? Cheers!! |
