Spent the day in the garage pulling the front suspension apart to fit some bump stop extensions. When i pulled the cv out the inner cap came off and the inside of the after market CV was different to what the standard factory cv's looked like.

The factory ones have about 6 bearing balls that recess into the cv outer housing

The aftermarket ones i have use 3 bearings on pins that run inside some guides machined in the cv outer housing.

The aftermarket one seemed to bind up quicker than the factory one.

What one would be stronger?

Guessing here

Mean time to failure - aftermarket will fail earlier, as there are 1/2 the bearing surfaces being loaded, hence will experience facial loading fractures earlier than factory.

In terms of strength, the aftermarket will probably withstand a higher torquer before failure, due to more material.

Ther poorer movement (binding) of the aftermarket CV is evident of the downsides of less bearings.

I would guess the aftermarket will bench test loading better, but will fail earlier under normal conditions.
