Trying to pull some camshafts out of heads i have laying around. is thre a trick to removing them without rotating the whole thing? Also is it neccessary to take the pulley off to remove the cam????
Some camshafts, ie Sierra, have a hole in the shaft that you can put a rod/screwdriver in to hold the cam while you undo the bolt. I am not sure if you can get the cam out without removing the pulley, Someone else I'm sure will know.
Wrapped up in a shit load of rags in the vice and a quick zap of the rattle gun.
You can remove the cam without taking off the pulley but it requires more work. If the cam is still in the head but you've taken off the belt / chain. get a mate with a decent grip to hold the pulley while you zap the nut with the rattle gun.
