Finally got around to getting my bung axle out (tapped a thread and a claw hammer). Dropped my diff out and found that side gear had a slight burr in it. I tried carefully cleaning up the burr with a dremal but didnt seem to work. The axle will not drop back in. How hard is it to replace the side gears and will it effect the rest of the locker if it is taken apart and put back together again? BTW the axles seem to be 'softer' then i thought. I used a titanium drill bit and went up in size then a tap and die set all, it seemed to happen to easily. |

I removed the side gears in my new front ARB before install and sent them away to be resplined to 26. I recall, after removing the bolt caps, they came out and reinstalled easily. What is it you are threading and on what vehicle? |
