Hey all

So my car decides to loose power all of a sudden this afternoon, G16B EFI LWB Vitara.

I thought it may be bad fuel as it was running low so I just put $20 in it and on the way home turned right at a roundabout and there was a knock from the rear of the car.

I have found that if I turn enough to the left or right and generate some lateral force there is a slow 'sliding' noise followed by a knock which is hollow enough that I think it is coming from inside the tank, as if something is sitting on the bottom and moving around.

Anyone ever had the pickup or something in there come loose? I think this may explain the sluggish behavior as the fuel supply must be affected.

HELP! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

might have dislodged the internal swirl pot, that or it's a dead or dying fuel pump

OK OK so who wants a laugh?

When one leaves a dust-pan on top of their Vortex roof rack when cornering it tends to make a 'sliding' noise followed by a hollow knock. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Still doesn't explain the loss of power. Might try some new plugs on the weekend.

Now please excuse me whilst I go and punish myself for being an idiot

epic comment is epic

Check for fuel pressure at your rail dude, I had a shagged o-ring on my pump assy which dropped the pressure to like 15psi. Just find a pressure gauge, grab a bit of hose and a t-piece and plumb it in. Use clamps cos you get upwards of 60psi in there.

If its not fuel pressure, check sparks and any crank sensors or cam sensors (sorry dont know vit engines)

If not spark, check air.

I rekon youve lost fuel pressure though.

Could be a dieing fuel pump or that exhaust rattle might be a bit of cat converter that's broken off and is rattling around & blocking the pipe.

That comment would require you to actually do some work :thefinger:

Exhaust was fixed last night, the bloody car has now moved on to another problem... I should set the thing on fire.
