if you can find one out of a drover or maybe a coily?? fit it your self then take it to a ac place

they will install a new filter dryer, check wiring pressure text vac and charge normally about 150 now with carbon tax and the price of 134a prob 200 +

air con kit should be about 400 2nd hand

i dont know if coilys had ac, best to ask a coily driver, i have seen some sierras with ac, but far and few between. you can get universal evaps that have there own fan and run as a sepreat system from your heater, but these are alot more expensive, best off to buy new stuff tho as then you know the history of the compressor oil txv evap and condensor, no sign of acid in a new system!

Coilys i have heard the bottom vents where ac goes around are abit different to normal wt style.

Put up a wanted ad on here. Can be had for $50+ for a full system. They are out there, Just abit rarer as they were an option

My coily doesn't have it, I believe it was only an option.

Correct, it was an option. In fact, I've seen a 1.0 with A/C.

Whilst the idea of A/C on a sierra is appealing, there's some practical considerations. The power loss will be noticeable, but more importantly, there will be a significant increase in thermal load on the motor.

Brand new, standard WT sierras had marginal cooling systems. Add the thermal load of A/C, a hill and a hot day and I suspect overheating will be almost guaranteed.

Just wind down the windows. Yes aircon is awsome in a hot 4wd up a beach on a hot day. But it's just another thing to go wrong! Mine had aircon, I've still got the loom and the dash controls but nothing else. Will be stripping out the a/c loom soon.

Reeceh let me know when you get rid of it all. I presume you sold all the other stuff?

Not trying to be a smartass or anything steve but wouldn't the sierra have a sensor that would cut the compressor as coolant temp increases? Like most other AC systems?

My new sierra has an aircon button on the dash, but no aircon fitted.. The car is an 86 LWB. Probably not helpful for you, but I thought it was odd..

if you fuck around enough and have enough room you can change the mount for the condenser, but not really much to gain just a pita,

ive moved one for a bloke who put ac in a fj40, it was over heating so the condenser was moved up behind the cab in front of the headboard, fuck loads of pipe later it stopped the over heating, but 300gms of R134a turned into 800 pretty quick also gotta keep the back of the condenser clear or the ac dose not work, put a load on the back and all of a sudden cooling capacity drops 80%. ya tell people but some know best i spose.

in a zook this isnt an option really, but you could go alloy radiator and a big thermo fan this my help

also a 253 has a few more berries to cope with ac..... 1.3 in a jimny you turn the ac off and its like hitting NOS, so the old 1.3's may be just fucked with ac.
