Have a look through these two threads. Personally I think retread tyres are for drive tyres on trucks or heavy trailers only

for an offroad play tyre they will be fine, for $75 a pop you cant go too wrong. personally i'd have them on a 2nd set of rims so you're not tempted to daily drive them. try & find out of they are a recap or a bead to bead remold.

scrawn, just wondering what's the difference between fitting them to a truck/bus etc compared to a passenger vehicle/4wd?

i'd put a 31x10.5r15 on a 15x7 before a 15x8.

For starters, retreads for trucks are only allowed on drive axles, steer tyres have to be clean skin. Secondly, the tyres are always in pairs so if one tyre blows out (which is fairly common) then the other tyre will keep the rims off the road till the blown one can be replaced.
I realise the weights of truck vs Suzuki don't compare but I'd never be comfortable with retreads on my car, just a personal opinion. I'd hate to have a steer/front tyre blow out on the highway. If you used them as a second set for off roading then they'd probably go ok. I'd imagine they wouldn't balance very well either.

ahh cool, never new about not being allowed on the steer axle. being on a pair of duals makes sense.

im going to give it a go.. the trucks at work use them and with 4 tone sitting on them every day and they seem to do the job for 4 to 6 mnth highway use so im think it will be good for me as i hardly drive mine to often on the road!!

^^^ if they're lager than what was on there, that can be expected.

but there is a fair bit of extra weight on a retread, the 235/75r15 Insa Turbo's on 15x7 rims weighed 34kgs each.

the carcass is based on a 235/75r15 (28.9") but with the tread on them they're essentially the same size as my 31" MTR's.

there are pics in the other thread.
