Hi everyone, just wondering where the breathers are situated on the gearbox and transfer case of a 92 Sierra, also do you have to tap into them to fit breathers or can you do a similar thing to breathers on the diffs? Any help would be great! |

The gearbox breather is on the top of the box above the arrow pointing to the bolt. do a search, they have been fitted with breathers before, but do bear in mind that the shifter is really badly sealed and is only 1.5" higher up. and: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31496&hilit=transfer+case+breather Search is your friend. Steve. |

Thanks heaps for your help Steve! Now with the breather on top of the gearbox I searched and people have said that the holes are on the side so if you place a hose over the top it will block the holes! Any suggestions? Could you maybe cut the top off? |

You are correct, the holes are on the sides. Ideally pull the cap out, tap the box for a 90˚ barb and put a hose on that, but as I said, do consider that it's tough to seal the shifter so it might be a bit pointless. Steve. |

Ok maybe forget extending the breathers on the gearbox then if it's gonna be a sieve in other places haha. But is the shifter on the transfer the same? |

It seals better (and is easier to seal) I've filled a transfer with mud and water twice. Never a gearbox. Steve. |

The shifter on the gearbox should have a round rubber boot over it covering the top plate with 3 bolts The shifter on the transfer should have one also, but with a metal band that wraps around it holding it in place in a groove |
