The shifter in my sierra has gone stupid , it started to hit on the dash going into 3rd gear.It also wobbles around heaps when driving around normally.Would this be the nylon bushing? or something else. Its a 1990 WT sierra 5 speed.

Could be bush or snapped shifter bolt, take the stick out and have a geeze. |

I too would like to know the answer to this and I was just about to make a post on something similar. My SV620 manual gearbox (the one Suzistore just fitted) is far more sloppy and vague than the SV420 box it replaced. It's almost "rubbery" and I wondered what it is that determines the "feel" of a gearbox. Some cars (Honda S2000, Integra Type R, MX-5 spring to mind) have a beautiful precise throw. I've never torn down a gearbox so I don't really know much about the workings of them. I know this doesn't help with the original post. Sorry. |

Ill pull the boot off tommorow and have a look. It still goes into gear, just the selector goes up to far. |

Generally a sloppy shifter is due to worn bush or shifter bolt. If you just pop the gearstick out you'll see if it's worn |

Wouldn't even know what I was looking for! Wouldn't even know how to pop the shifter out! Lol. I'll drag out the Haynes manual one day and look. |
