So after my little incident with a bank and a tree it has forced me into crossing a few things off my "to do" list.

tasks to complete are:
- Replace bonnet, grille panels and straighten the right quarter.
- while the front end is off im going to do water pump and timing belt.
- Build a winch bar
- fix rust and put in sill sliders
- full external respray

Im going to start on the 21st and hope to have it all done in a week. (except the winch bar)
is this abit too confident?

Ive pretty much decided to go with an off the shelf white (septone brilliant white acrylic)
finish does not really bother me that much its going to get scratched again anyway aslong as it stops the bloody rust.

Anyone got any tips or hints for any of the above tasks. never sprayed a car before and ive never built a winch bar but i have plenty of fab experience and now have access to some good gear.

any help would be great

brilliant white is too white it will look cheap and oviously wrong
try toyota 033 , 045, or something like holden alpine white 1J052 or the standard white. trust me they are nothing like the white you are looking at

You can never have enough flex

With paint it's all in the preparation, rush it and it will be shit job no matter what you do. The more time spent and less bog used the better the result. Oh and just a word of caution if you plan on painting it in your yard.... Best you have pretty cool neighbours as massive fines can be imposed for spray painting outside a booth these days, and yes make sure all neighbours cars,washing etc are well well out of harms way as overspray does and will travel and stick to anything in its path!

Thanks for the advice. we only have one direct neighbour as i live a fair way out of town.
Does the nozzle size matter? and as most of the paint is in pretty cond apart from scratches can i just lightly sand it and paint over?
Obviously ill prime the new panels and any rust i fix but what about the panels that are in good cond.

yes you can paint over the existing paint without any issues, as long as its in good condition and you have rubbed it down properly (600 - 800 grit wet)
any repaired areas need primer etc

If your fixing rust and painting, now is a good time to think about a virtual lift....

A week is getting a bit excited but doable if you put in some long hours.

Far to lazy to do a virtual lift... if the need arises in the future i will probably get a body lift so i can lift the transfer aswell.

Ive got school holidays starting so i will have all the time in the world. for that week anyway...
