Its a long one but please help! please! :(

Car: 96vit 2dr. Efi

Operation: Removing a shit stereo to fit another

What i was doing: Cleaned up radio harness from previous owner. Find Earth, Acc and Main power for new radio

Found Earth, Found Acc, I couldnt find a main/constant power wire anywhere near the radio?? I also couldnt find the lights/illum? Found illum now, its red yellowstripe as i had blow a fuse for all dash lights...

I was using a multimeter on VDC, And while trying to find a main/constant power around back of fuse box, something must of happened.

I cannot start the car.
Ign fuse is good, Inside and in engine bay, I have checked by swapping fuses.
I cannot hear fuel pump prime up
I cannot hear any relays click

Is there a change i blew the ecu?

The car also has an fully hectic alarm that does not work from cutting the annoying siren last monday. BUT, Car has ran fine all week until i have played with stereo wiring. The stereo has nothing to do with the alarm according to its own diagrams.

Another option was no fuel, But i drove to work on it low, and i just put 10L in it again with a jerry to make sure its not fuel.

I am totally lost. :(

Ecu s are pretty tough. Did u leave an earth off maybe u have an earth wire touching a posative sounds nasty but it can be done without total disaster trust me, maybe reverse ur steps

Each wire test was done seperate, Not touching anything or each other. Meter red pointy doova in back of plug or wire, to black end of meter to body

Its not the 1st stereo i have done which is annoying! They are normally easy. This thing has me stumped.

i'd be looking at the alarm, did you remove many extra earths?

turn the ignition on & give the tank a good thump or 7 to try & wake the pump up... it should prime for 3-5 secs

Only 1 earth i have touched for radio. Wire is about 100mm long.

Will try a kick tomorrow.

I have a funny feeling its the ecu or alarm. I get reds, oil light, bat light, kicks over, no broom, not even a kick from old fuel pressure(would they do this?lol)

Next thing i will try is spark. If i have spark, must be fuel prob. Spark means ign works no? I would think an alarm would cut everything..

Found some diagrams for alarm. Hopefully its just a piggy back system and adapted onto the original harness. Will cut here, cut there..

Has it got injector pulse?

so turns over but doesnt fire?

pull the panel off under the column and find where the alarm splices in, they are easy to get at on vits, look for fat wires that have been cut and the alarm wires spliced in to them, mainly black and white stripe ones, rejoin them to bypass any immobilisers

otherwise check more fuses, mainly ignition powered ones

ok

Alarm removed. All wires were piggybacked except for start wire. All original now. No new colours.

Car stil kicks over.
Tested each pole on all fuses.eng bay and dash. Good.
With ign on, reds, 7v at fuel pump. When kicking over, no spark.

7v at fuel pump sounds like an ECU relay is buggered

find black/white and black/blue at ECU and test for battery voltage with the key on

Mission complete.

Tried looking at the relays, Without a meter (locked up at work, shut for weekend) i couldnt test. Swapped relays around as they are the same up next to the ecu, Still no go.

Pulled out ecu with plugs still attached, Found 2 wires not original. Mitsubishi ecu. Small plug. Blue wire on the very end was cut and shut and looks like they used the wires somehow for the stereo, I must of cut them leaving circuit open, and it hid itself 200mm under carpet somehow when i wasnt watching.

I cut the wires closer to the ecu, Did a bodge twist join and away she started, no problems.

Still trying to find a diagram on what this wire is. Would be a good kill switch!

Thanks for everyone trying to help. 2 causes.. Me and one of the prev owners

sounds like the alarm was immobilising that wire and you chopped it

The alarm was all on the right 1/4 side of the dash. This wire i found was laying under carpet next to gearstick!?
