bit of a noob. anyway... was driving home this afternoon and noticed something is wrong with my steering. it has become very difficult to steer. it feels so tight to turn the steering wheel. feels like if i force it to turn that it might do some damage???? no idea whats wrong? im going to fraser island in a week so any help would be much appreciated.

first check that your tyres arent flat... lol then check that nothings obviously bent underneath (tie rod and drag link), then take off the steering damper (the shock absorber thing on the front), if its none of that then take a look and see if there's oil in the steering box - if not top it up with gear oil... if that's still not it, jack it up and check if a wheel bearing has collapsed etc (although you'd have clunks and grinds and all sorts if it was that).

Also might be the uni joint just up from the rag joint.

Mad Kenny's did that just before he steering box completely failed. Check it out before driving it again.

x2.

The uni joint in the steering shaft ( up at the firewall ) can bind/ lock up. I've had this happen to me. Spray it with some WD40. If it gets a little bit better, that is your problem, and you should get a new one asap.
