Hey guys,

Does anyone know why my fuse keeps blowing for my spotties? When I flick the switch for them I can see the fuse blow... Just bought a new fuse and blew it

Im running 4x55w HID Spotties with a 40amp fuse.

Cheers

Fuses blow for two reasons - a short circuit or an overload - 40A is overkill for 220W @ 12V, your current draw is just under 20A, a 30A fuse would probably have been adequate even making allowance for the "inrush" current, so I'd say you either have a wire shorted to the chassis somewhere, or a failed ballast.

Trobleshooting by swapping fuses can be risky, use a DVM on the continuity scale or a trouble light clipped to the battery positive - disconnect all the lights and probe the feed wire if there's no short there, probe the lights one by one.
