Have you noticed you are down on power, and perhaps more power elsewhere.
You have changed the exhaust flow dynamics, which will affect the pressure waves and scavenging.
This will affect the torque curve, and if fuel consumption is up, you have probably changed it for the worse.
You may need to consider doing a full exhaust, and get your car tuned appropriately $$$
Work out a way to put the old one back on, with extra ground clearance
Get a muffler with similar characteristics to stock (pressure loss) that will offer the clearance you seek, and work out a way to put it in.
