Post subject:  30" tyres hitting chasi on vit how to restrict steering?
Just wondering how I can restrict my steering so my 30".tyres stop scrubbing up my chasi?

I had 33x12.5 tyres on a vit and they only scrubbed a little on the guard. Rims were 15x8 -13 offset

that vitara was pretty modified before you got it, old mate had done a heap of clearancing to get 32's to fit.



Mr Charles Brown,

You can adjust the steering stops by the steering box, one is on the pitman arm & the other is on the chassis located in the right hand front corner of the vehicle, both are visible from underneath.

nah no thread, just turn the wheel to the left so it's just off the chassis rail & look up at the steering box & wind the bolt out til it's touching the stop, then do the same for the RHS

U might need longer bolts or just weld a nut on the end of the bolt

Ok so I got home and had a look and are these the bolts you are talking about just making them tighter (move into the middle of the car) to lessen the maximum turn?

Nope, they are tie rods. Look at the pitman arm that is attached to the steering box.

No, if you look at the front of the chassis rail on the driver's side you will see a funny looking thing with a shaft going into the top of it and an arm on the bottom of it. This is the steering box, the arm on the bottom is the piman arm.

Okey dokey thanks guys, found it (well I'm 99% sure =P ) attached to the chasi, is this the nut you tighten here in these pictures? (sorry had to use a torch under the car so they are crappy quality)

yes! undo the nut, wind the bolt out. tighten the nut.
