Put a new clutch in this f'ing V6 Vitara and also a new slave cylinder. Now the fucken thing won't go into gear properly. Its like the H pattern for the gearstick is out. Any suggestions? I was thinking a new Bruce rubber for the gearstick and I will put up a pic in a minute cause looking into the gearbox from above doesn't look quite right.

Are all the gates lined up so the gearbox is in neutral?

Pretty sure you need to remove the remote shifter neck to get at the shifter rods.

And also, how the fuck would it move out of alignment in the first place?? It supposed to be an easy clutch change and ive never had this happen before

Put it back togeth sorta and now i can get 1,2,3,4 but it wont shift a ross to give me 5th and R. WTF???

It can't - at least not to my knowledge anyway?? Random thought - nothing fell down the hole which is preventing it from coming across?

Just went and had a look at mine mate... (this is on a GV but I can't imagine it would be much different).

With the gearstick removed mine self centres. If I put it into gear, and then take the gearstick out (which is actually really quite hard to do), it is a royal bastard to re-fit the gearstick again but it is possible with a bit of fiddling. Even when I had put it in gear and removed the gearstick, mine still isn't just off to the side like yours (it is either off to the side and up or down depending on the gear etc).

Mine won't select 5th/reverse either unless I have the clutch in - gears just obviously aren't meshed properly where it currently sits. From the sounds of it though you can't even bring the gearstick across to the right let alone select the gears? One of those retaining bolts which hold the gearstick in hasn't been accidentally knocked in or anything??

Have u got the black plastic bit on the ball at the end of the stick
It might have fallen off in to the housing

Bingo. I had a mate drop into work and he said your missing the teflon bush that goes on the end of the knuckle on the end of the gearstick. Its only $5 from suzuki and they are delivering one tomorrow morning. My mate recons they get flogged out and drop into the gearbox all the time. Didnt' see it on there to start with so didnt realise it was missing. Fingers crossed it fixes the fucker otherwise i might just burn it!

Tge funny thing is i did the same thing to my mate changing a clutch
I walked in and they couldnt get it into gear either
I think when the wear a bit when u pull the stick out they fall off and bounce down out of sight

Yeah still cant get the cunt into gear. Dropped the new bush into the gearbox and took me 30 minutes fishing to get the fucken thing out, thank god i did get it out. Can see the old one but will keep on plugging round and try and find it cause it is like the freekin thing is jammed up tight.

Its so fucken obvious when you are looking for the fucker, there it was jammed on the side. Chisel and belting the jesus out of it and finally got it free. Drives sweet as now

Lucky thats all it was
They should be a tight fit on the ball
I had to give it a pull to get mine off the other day
My slots and pins in the side had worn and the shifter could swing from side to side like 100mm
Took em out welded the slot and grind back out nice and tight
Welded the bolt and turned it back round
Now its all nice and tight like new again
