Just put a NT tank in my WT Sierra and the tank has sucked itself in. At first I though I had smashed it like my old tank but the top is sucked in aswell. The NT tank does not have the breather like the WT tank do I need a different filler gap??? Want to get it sorted before my TSOR tank guard arrives. Cheers |

You need a vented cap or unblock the line to the charcoal pot. |

Only a small Hijack  Although the charcoal canister traps hydrocarbons from your fuel tank long enough for the engine to eventually burn them thus saving the atmosphere, is there any reason why it could not be replaced with a small filter? Would a suitable location for this vent be in the engine bay on the fire wall?

My charcoal cannister fell off my Sierra. I used a breather line. You have to be careful you run it high enough, or it can syphon out the tank in warmer weather. Also need to consider roll over or flops, as fuel can easily syphon out. I ran a loop system in the breather, never presented a problem. I would run a new charcoal cannister, much safer |

Just undone my filler cap to have a look and relive the pressure, put it back on and started the car it died. Pulled the fuel line from the pump to carby and no fuel is getting through. The tank is half full??? |

It has probably sucked in that much that the base of the tank has blocked the fuel pickup pipe. |

Discovered I'm out of fuel, because the tank has sucked itself in resting on the fuel level sender telling me I have 1/2 a tank. Whats the best way to pop the tank out. Tried pulling the bottom with a pair of vice gribs but to no avail. |

You can remove the tank, take the sender out the top and use a bit of non splintering wood and a hammer to bash the bottom down. Worked for all my medium dents, so I reckon it wouldn’t take much to get your big "dent" out. Don’t know about the top, maybe someone with small hands but a strong arm?  Or pressurise it???? might need some forward thinking for that though, don’t want to kill anything.

about 10-20 psi air pressure will pop most large dents out |

A mate has a 120L tank in his old ex ambo chevy. It was all sucked in due to the bloke before him using an incorrect fuel cap. He took it out, emptied it and filled it with air. It WAS holding 65L and now he gets 120L in it. Moral to the story it try to blow it back out. |

Make sure there no fumes left in tank, before blowing it out. A spark could cause kaboom, though not very likely, it is possible. |

Fawk - what do you use to blow the tank out with - Dynamite! Compressed air shouldn't be rocking too many sparks I've pumped a tank out before - worked a treat. Before:  after  This tank was impact damaged and holed so I removed it welded the hole up (after flushing with water for some time) unlike compressed air, welding does, I'm told produce sparks  but I could have pumped the dents out without remove it. Steve. |

I'm told static electricity can make boom. Better to give a safety warning, than not. Wearing goggles is wise, too, as shit can fly off rather suddenly. As I age I get more and more girly
