hey guys. Just wondering what (if any) is the difference between a normal sierra and a jx sierra? any info or ideas??

What year?

jx is basic. All same. No fancy models.

Some have owner optional a/c

Thats about all the luxuries!

Yeah there is very little difference between the models. Perhaps only paint colour, decals, and interior trim.

AC was optional on all models, so thats not specific to JLX, JX etc.

Can't remember which, but either JX or JLX came with the graphics up the side.

Ah ok. Basic stuff you really take for granted on normal vehicles lol ! I've noticed most sierras have uncomfortable seats but my ones are good. Slightly like a bucket seat

And now the facts!!

JA was the basic spec for SJ50 Narrow Track Sierras. JX was the luxury spec. There was never a JLX Sierra (Vitaras were JX or JLX). When the SJ70 came out, the JA spec was dropped and ALL Sierras were specced as JX, but the title was dropped.

In the SJ50, the spec differences were:

JA no clock, JX has clock.
JA had hard plastic dash, JX had padded cover on dash.
JA no stereo, JX AM/FM/Casette player.
JA only has 2 speed wipers, JX has 2spd plus intermittent.
JA has rear bench seat, JX has split seats.
JA has plain 5 spoke wheels, JX has Sunraysias.
JA tin top has vinyl seats, door trim and floor mats, JX has cloth seats and carpet.
JA soft top had plain vinyl seats and door trim, JX had fancy vinyl seats and door trim.

Utes were only available in JA spec. Hi-roofs were only available as JX. LWB JA had vinyl soft-top, LWB JX had fibreglass hi-top canopy and cloth/fabric interior.
Tintop and softtop were available in either JA or JX.

All vinyl interior + headrests (seen an 88.5hardtop with no rests, no holes for them!)

You're in the Twilight Zone right there. The 88.5 WTs were still an SJ50 (or SJ51 for an LWB), but in a whole world of weirdness with some major mixing and matching going on. Besides the Tacho and Clock, everything else is JA spec, although Rust was an option on JX too!

No rear seat. (Complianced as 2 seater)

This was exactly the spec of gregc's second Sierra. Sj70 hardtop.

IIRC,SJ50 doesn't equal WT, it means it has a G13ba motor... Or something like that.

You seem to forget we are a very small narket. We get what Japan wants to send us, and also when Ateco ( the importers at the time) decided they wanted something they would change factory specs.

You could buy a LJ50 with LJ80 gearing as an option, so you could go faster. Also if they wanted cheaper cars to compete with other sellers factory specs went out the window and basic was the go for every one. Also by putting little things as options, the import taxes would be reduced, thus making the car cheaper.

And suzuki just slap everything together sometimes in an unexplainable wierdness and then you get some wierd arse suzuki owners who fit all sorts of wierdo shit to there cars too.
