i have a 93 sierra thats running the stock engine with 192000 on the clock, iv had it a few months. it was running great when i got it but after i took it out 4x4ing a few weeks ago and gave it a hiding it started to run ruff. after reading alot of the posts on here i come to the conclusion the timing belt had skiped a tooth, a week after this there was oil coming from the timing belt cover as well anad there was a bit of a miss in the engine at about 1000rpm, i gave the ignition systom a once over and the dizzy cap had seen better days as well as the rottor button, the gap in the plugs were all over the place and the leads fell apart when i pulled them off. befor i got the parts to do any thing i put a timing light on it and it was way out, the dizzy maxed out in advancing getting the timing close but it ran better. i have not ran any carby cleaner through it yet but every thing seams to be working well i also swaped 2 and 3 leads over and ran it to get it to back fire to clean it out abit after this i reved it up and put my hand over the carby then took it off befor it stalled there was some shit come out the exhorst when i did this.

so far- i have put a new timing belt on and replaced the the oil seals, it was out one tooth! the belt was still okish but changed anyway. new dizzy cap and rotor button. new leads and plugs. i have timed it 8 degrees at 1200rpm. it runs sweet the miss is gone and it is idleing at about 800 rpm. i let it warm up and gave it all the once over a few revs and it was all sweet, i took it for a drive and it drove well had alot more go and i was very inpressed my problem is when ever i pull up it stalls. it will start easy when i try and start it to keep going but it stalls every time i stop. i got back home and after my drive i pulled up in my drive way ( it stalled) i started it and it just sat there idleing over i gave it a few revs it went back to idleing fine. i took it for another drive and the same thing. im at a loss with where do go from here.

Shit in the carby. Idle jet will be getting blocked. Clean out carby and put a second fuel filter between fuel pump and carby.

cheers mate, i dont know any thing about carbys, how do i un block the idle jet and where is it on the carby?

Inside. If you don't know much about them, best take it to a carby specialist as they are f##kin fiddly pieces of shit haha.

cheers mate, taking it to a specialist sounds like a good idea, i you tubed how to rebuild it and it looks like a job for some one that knows what there doing...

the sierra is over running as in the engine keeps trying to run after it is turned off, i was chatting to a mate he said it could be the idler solonoid? it this somethig that can be fixed or should i chase up another one?
