My 1.8 2004 liana has a problem with its advance. It does not have a distributor, but a computor unit. When I take off in first it seems to momentarialy stall. When I change from fifth to fourth on the highway going up a rise it dies and I have to change back to 3rd which seem sridiculous. At time when i have to go up a driveway from a stop position, the engine will not pick up even though i am in first and pumping the accelerator. The 1.8 should be a sparky engine but not one seems to know what the problem is. I don't want to take it to any efi person and they experiment with my money, so does any have a suggestion of where I could go. I live in Newcastle nsw

Mate you will need to fill in a few more details first for anyone here to be able to help you.
Add some stuff like it's a 1.8 suzuki liana year model xxxx and this is the problem I'm having e.t.c.
Then something like, I've tried solution A, B and C and it changed X Y and Z.

You could also benefit from adding your location either to your profile so it shows up on the left, or your post, someone may be close or know a good mechanic in your area.

If you don't do that you're going to get silly replies and be upset with the lack of information you receive.

I can't really give you any more than that from there as I can only guess from your post that you have a 1.8 efi liana, I am guessing it has a distributor from the title of your thread however you haven't described whether or not it's pinging (detonating) so I'm lost as to why you would want to retard the timing. Unless we're talking about a problem with your vacuum advance (assuming the liana dizzy motor has one similar to the carby g13ba I've dealt with) but this is all just guesswork and assumption.

Cheers

i think he's saying that his 1.8l Liana is r-tarded.

could be something simple like a lazy fuel pump or something simple.

have you try chucking it in low range?
