Tomorrow at the 4wd show I'm expecting to pick up aload of stuff and one of them is a duel battery system, first is there any recommendations on a good automatic system to run that isn't going to burn a hole in my pocket and what amp does the factory alternator put out. FYI I am running a winch spotties light bar and very big sound system, we it will be installed after I get these battery's sorted. Any help on brands and products would be appreciated.

Unless there are swords involved it is 'dual'.

Get a Rotronics kit or a RedArc unit.

Red arc is expensive isn't it? And I've never heard if rotronics? Would they have stand?

redarc are available for 90 bucks..... if your putting a "very big" sound system in, i would think the isolator is the least of your cost concerns.

I'd say just get a Projecta Kit mate... comes with everything you need exc. battery and they do alright.

Mine is a Rotronics Weekender, totally automatic, I've been running it for about five years and it's been trouble free.

What are you running off the auxilliary battery - you'd probably run your lightbar and sound system off the cranking battery (the engine is running while these are) and keep the auxilliary as a reserve or run a fridge off it overnight.

Can you solder? You can't beat $22 - YES - ONLY TWENTY-TWO BUCKS PLUS SHIPPING! A work colleague of mine installed one of these in his Patrol. I'll be putting one of these in my Vit. All you need is a small jiffy box and some cable and fuses to go with it.

AFAIK - WT Sierra alternator is 45A, Coily & 1.6 Vit is 50A.

Have a look at the EL falcon alternator thread in good tech.
